AASTS Sharjah adopts the following set of values that will be implemented throughout its campus and will therefore shape its culture. The first initials of the core values form the word 1st choice as follows:
One Team, One Goal;
This value implies that all organizational units are committed to the achievement of the Strategic Goals included in its Strategic Plan. Adopting this value necessitates that AASTS Sharjah's interests should come prior to any other subsidiary organizational units; and that the interests of organizational units override individual interests. The importance of organizational integration which realizes the principles of efficiency and effectiveness through the implementation of the most appropriate ways of organizational alignment will be asserted.
This value implies that every organizational unit should have the belief that the worst enemy of progress is the conviction that the status quo is the best that can be achieved. This conclusion triggers the need for continuous development of both academic and administrative staff.
Human Capital Development;
This value implies that the campus shall continuously adopt capacity-building programs for academic staff and for human potential on all administrative levels. It also motivates and urges the managers to develop the human resources working under their supervision and to consider it one of the main criteria of evaluating performance.
This value implies that top management emphasizes that all regulatory practices have to comply with the ethical values that have been formulated since AASTS’ inception and along its varied stages of development and that concepts and ideas should primarily originate from its inherent value system.
This value implies all staff should consistently adhere to the Code of Ethics agreed upon within AASTS’ organizational practices.
Creativity & Innovation;
This value implies that all academics shall inspire creative thinking for AASTS students rather than catering for just getting high grades and that innovation and creativity should form part and parcel of the academic content of all subjects taught at AASTS Sharjah. It also implies that establishing and supporting scientific incubators for AASTS students and specifying suitable budgets that encourage creative thinking will be enacted.In the meantime, AASTS Sharjah shall reward academic staff in accordance to efforts exerted in the following fields:
a. Papers accepted for publication in international journals,
b. Papers/research presented at international conferences,
c. Patents which have received local and international awards.
This value implies that AASTS Sharjah shall adopt the concept of implementing the principle of: "Paying for Performance"and devising objective criteria systems for the evaluation of individuals,organizational units and the campus’ overall performance.
